Ravinia Farmers Market Update – week of July 13, 2022
The Ravinia Farmers Market is here for our Highland Park, Highwood and neighboring communities. The Market is open this Wednesday, July 13, from 8am-1pm (7am early bid shopping) at Jens Jensen Park with fresh, local and organic fruits and vegetables, baked good, artisanal food items, plants and flowers and other Market items, as well as community tents. A minute of silence will be observed at the Market at noon to honor the victims of the July 4 tragedy and our community. Additional community support/outreach is being planned for this week’s Market. The Midsummer Market season continues, with Michigan berries and fruits in abundance. This week’s Ravinia Farmers Market is featuring sweet and tart cherries, raspberries, blueberries and apricots, and additional fruit selections as harvest is available. Plan your weekly menu with what’s in season at the Market, including green beans, cucumbers and zucchini/summer squash, plus local and organic kale and chard selections, mixed greens, lettuces, green onions, garlic scapes, salad turnips, snap peas, parsley, flavorful basil, and other herbs, fruits and veggies. Join nearly 40 weekly local produce, food, artisanal product, plant and natural product vendors in the beautiful setting at Jens Jensen Park. In addition to local and organic produce, select from farm fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, local honey, pastries and baked goods, vegan and gluten-free selections, condiments, spices and chocolates, beverages, artisan oils and flours, skin care products and soaps, jewelry and decorative items, as well as fresh cut flowers and beautiful plants for your home and garden. Several vendors also offer freshly-made breakfast and lunch items to eat at the Market or take home. Running through the September 14 market, be sure to stop by the Welcome Tent and enter the Ravinia Festival Free Drawing Experience for a chance to win two tickets to upcoming concerts, courtesy of Ravinia Festival. This week’s first prize winner will receive two pavilion passes to the July 16 CSO performance: Marcus Roberts Trio Plays His Rhapsody in D, as well as a Ravinia goodie bag! Additional prizes include one $25 gift card to Enaz. This weeks’ live music is sponsored by the Highland Park Community Foundation. “Jazzman” Jeff Justman performs acoustic Beatle Jazz”, 60s Music, Torch Songs, and Originals from 8:45-10:45am, followed by Americana folk rock music from Koleinu from 11am-1pm.
