Ravinia Farmers Market Update – week of September 14
Tomatoes, peppers and squash! The Ravinia Farmers Market continues this Wednesday, September 14, with a great selection of farm-fresh, late summer fruits and veggies from local vendors and producers from 8am-1pm (7am early bid shopping) at Jens Jensen Park. Michigan apple and pear season is here, and vendor selections include favorites like honey crisp, as well as new varieties to try. Peaches, grapes, plums and late season blueberries, plus jams and honey, are also available from our Michigan fruit vendors. Shop for heirloom tomatoes, squash, eggplant, colorful peppers, beets, greens and so many more favorites. Sweet corn season has almost past, so to pick up plenty to last the coming week. Be sure to think of your weekly menu and school when shopping the Market while supporting local farmers and small community businesses. Select from farm fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, local honey, jams and jellies, pastries and baked goods, vegan and gluten-free selections, condiments, spices and chocolates, and snack items. Pick up some fresh, cut flowers and beautiful plants for your home and garden, and shop for natural skincare items as well. Several vendors also offer freshly-made breakfast and lunch items to eat at the Market or take home. Running through this week’s Market, be sure to stop by the Welcome Tent and enter the Ravinia Festival Free Drawing Experience for a chance to win two tickets to upcoming concerts, courtesy of Ravinia Festival. This week’s Ravinia prize winners will receive two passes to upcoming performances, as well as a Ravinia goodie bag. Additional prizes include gift cards from a Highland Park business.
