July 26 Market News

The last week of July means the start of sweet corn season at the Ravinia Farmers Market. Stop by Jens Jensen Park on Wednesday, July 26 from 8am-1pm (7am early bid shopping) for a great selection of sweet corn, as well as other summer selections of locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables. Market vendors continue to feature an abundance of Michigan summer fruits, including blueberries, peaches and apricots, early plums, late season cherries, and additional fruit selections as harvest is available. Shopping the Market is a great way to plan your weekly menu with what’s locally in season in the Midwest, including early zucchini and summer squash, cucumbers and green beans, organic kale and chard selections, mixed greens, lettuces, green onions, beets, salad turnips, snap peas, parsley, flavorful basil, dill, and other herbs, fruits and veggies. Join more than 20 weekly local produce, food, artisanal product, plant and natural product vendors in the beautiful setting at Jens Jensen Park. In addition to local and organic produce, select from farm fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, local honey, pastries and baked goods, condiments, specialty herbs and teas, beverages, artisan food products, skin care essentials and soaps, tailored women’s clothing, and fresh cut flowers and beautiful plants for your home and garden. Vendors also offer freshly made breakfast and lunch items to eat at the Market or take home. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Tent and enter the Ravinia Festival Free Drawing Experience for a chance to win two tickets to upcoming concerts, courtesy of Ravinia Festival. This week’s first prize winners will receive two pavilion passes to the July 28 performance of Mei-Ann Chen Leads Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto with Jeremy Denk and the CSO. Additional prizes may include gift cards from local Highland Park business and natural products goody bags.  MUSIC: As always, market goers will enjoy live music throughout the market, starting with acoustic music “Jazzman” Jeff Justman from 9-10:30 a.m. This week’s Ravinia Farmers Market Live Music Series features Broadway show tune selections by Michael Mahany from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thank you to Highland Park Community Foundation for their generous support of the Live Music Series at Ravinia Farmers Market.
