Welcome to September! The Ravinia Farmers Market continues this Wednesday, September 7, with an abundant selection of farm-fresh, late summer fruits and veggies from local vendors and producers from 8am-1pm (7am early bid shopping) at Jens Jensen Park. This is peak harvest season in the Midwest, and Market vendors have a great supply of seasonal favorites. Apple season is here, and the selection grows weekly. Nectarines, pears, peaches, grapes, plums and late season blueberries are also available from our Michigan fruit vendors.
It’s also peak tomato and peppers season at the Market. Shop for organic heirloom and other tomatoes, summer squashes, eggplants, cucumbers, colorful peppers, green beans, beets and so many more favorites. Sweet corn season is almost past, so to pick up plenty to last the coming week.
Plan your weekly menu and school lunches to include all the flavors and nutrition of late summer fruits and veggies while supporting local farmers and small community businesses. Select from farm fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, local honey, jams and jellies, pastries and baked goods, vegan and gluten-free selections, condiments, spices and chocolates, and snack items. Pick up some fresh, cut flowers and beautiful plants for your home and garden, and shop for natural skincare items as well. Several vendors also offer freshly-made breakfast and lunch items to eat at the Market or take home.
Running through the September 14 market, be sure to stop by the Welcome Tent and enter the Ravinia Festival Free Drawing Experience for a chance to win two tickets to upcoming concerts, courtesy of Ravinia Festival. This week’s Ravinia prize winners will receive two passes to upcoming performances, as well as a Ravinia goodie bag. Additional prizes include gift cards from a Highland Park business.
